Listen for your call (May 15, 2010)

Dissonance is a feeling of anxiety in the body that is your unique and personal call to growth. It is a message of your human vulnerability, speaking the difficult truth of limits to personal control over outcomes that matter to you.

There is an urge is to move away from ourselves when we feel dissonance or anxiety - that mixture of muscle tightening and agitation seems like a signal to avoid what is there, a message to move away from yourself...

But those sensations are feally just your life force rising up and calling you.  If you can approach what it feels like in that precise moment and be with yourself there, you will open to deeper experiences of who you truly are.

You will grow into more of yourself.

I invite you to watch this week's video and then really listen for your call.  So you can matter.  So you can grow.

I have been trying to listen more this week. I feel like I know my call but there is room to improve my hearing so that I hear it earlier. It is hard to pick up the call early sometimes. It is like the escalating ring on the cell phone.....it gets louder with each ring. I try to pick up on the first ring as much as I can. It can be hard if too many things are coming my way at once but I found that during these times, if I can take a few moments and just turn inward, I can catch it earlier.

It's not that difficult feelings don't come up....they do but they are not so anxiety provoking. I feel more able to acknowledge what is really true for me. I feel more human. I feel more alive. I feel more motivated to reach out and this helps me feel more connected to others. This is a good thing.
